Promotional Powerbanks, What is mAh?

An Amp – hour (Ah) also known as ampere – hour is a unit of electric charge. In a small battery such as the battery found in a promotional power charger they are rated in milliampere-hour.

The milliampere-hour (mAh) is one-thousandth of an ampere-hour and is a term used for how much electrical charge a small battery holds.

This Sometimes can be confused with the speed at which current is drawn from a battery, your new mobile phone battery’s mAh rating indicates how long the battery will last until all the power has been discharged.

Promotional Powerbank mAh made simple.

The greater the mAh in a promotional power charger , the longer running time or charge you will be able to give to your device.

Think fuel tank, where mAh indicates the size of the tank – the bigger the tank the further you’ll go.

A battery that’s rated at 1500 mAh will power a device drawing 100 mAh for 15 hours

2500 mAh will power a device drawing 100 mA for 25 hours and so on, mAh refers to the amount of charge moving through the wire.

Our rough guide to the charging capabilities of a promotional power charger.

2200 mAh = 1 full smartphone charge

5200 mAh = 2 full smartphone charges

10,000 mAh = 4 full mobile charges or 1 full charge on a tablet.

Obviously it will depend on how much power your device is drawing and the make and model of your devise – a tablet using a battery rated at say 2500 mAh is likely to last longer than a laptop using the same battery because the power requirement of the laptop’s greater.

Thankfully knowing about mAh only becomes of  interest for most of us when we’re planning to buy a power charger!
