More and more consumers are keen to have products (including ones they receive as promotional gifts) that are environmentally sound and ethically sourced.

UK research by YouGov and The Guardian reckons that despite a period of austerity the public’s wish to reduce its impact on the environment remains strong.

Witness our appetite to wash clothes at 40 degrees, the willingness to switch off unwanted lights and the commitment to painstakingly sort recycling into appropriate containers. Ditto people buying fair trade and searching out locally produced goods.

Our ‘green’ habits are pretty deeply ingrained, says the research.

Another key influencer of people’s buying habits and their likelihood to both enjoy and keep promotional branded products is quality.

In summary the research says people will remain keen to search for more information on ethical living and to seek sustainable alternatives where possible. Brands can support (and benefit from) this movement by ‘providing availability, visibility, affordability, quality and clear communication around ethical products and services.’
